Skaara

Biography

Skaara

Skaara and his elder sister, Sha're, were the children of Kasuf, the foremost elder of the planet Abydos. Skaara was still an adolescent when explorers from Earth arrived on Abydos via the stargate. Skaara and the Abydonians greeted the explorers warmly, and Skaara became particularly attached to the leader, Jack O'Neill. Skaara's ties to the Earth men became closer when his sister was married to explorer Daniel Jackson. However, the goa'uld Ra arrived and disrupted the fellowship, killing many of the exploration team and captureing the rest. Skaara and his sister managed to successfully rescue four of the team, and together the team and Skaara's youth militia staged a daring raid to defeat Ra. The plan had nearly failed until Skaara's father started a full-scale uprising that tipped the scales in favor of the rebels. Before Ra could escape, he and his ship were destroyed by a nuclear device sent aboard by Jack O'Nell and Daniel Jackson. When the team returned to Earth, Daniel Jackson remained behind, and Skaara learned under Jackson's tutelage over the next two years. Over that time, Skaara managed the guardianship of the stargate as the head of Abydos' militia. Then, Jack O'Nell arrived once again with a new team, and told Jackson and the Abydonians of an attack on Earth through the stargate. Soon after the team's arrival, the goa'uld Apophis staged a stargate raid on Abydos, captured Skaara and Sha're, and took them to Chulak. Earth's new stargate teams SG-1 (with Jack O'Neill and Daniel Jackson) and SG-2 attempted a rescue mission to Abydos, but SG-1 was captured. Soon after, Skaara was chosen to be the host to one of the parasitic goa'uld, Apophis' son, Klorel. And, under Klorel's control, Skaara left Chulak with Apophis. Klorel's control over Skaara was not always absolute, and Skaara could sometimes interfere with Klorel's actions, as he did during an abortive space attack on Earth a year later. After that attack, Skaara did not see his friends for another year and a half. Then, fleeing rival system lord Heru'ur, Klorel had sought refuge on Tollana. On that world, Skaara managed to surface long enough to ask to be freed of his parasitic master. The Tollans decided to hold a "triad" to decide the issue, and Jack O'Neill and Daniel Jackson served as Skaara's advocates. In the end, the issue was decided in favor of Skaara, and Klorel was removed from Skaara. Skaara returned to Abydos, where he resumed his old life for three and a half years. Then, the ascended form of Daniel Jackson came to Abydos and warned of an impending invasion by the goa'uld Anubis. Skaara's militia and SG-1 attempted to defend his world, but in the struggle Skaara was mortally wounded. His life was saved when the Ancient, Oma Desala helped him ascend to a higher plane of existence. Skaara was soon joined by the ascended forms of all his people when Anubis destroyed the inhabited areas of Abydos.
