The spin-off series, started in July 2004 and ran similtanously with Stargate SG-1 for three great&nbsp;years. The last two years (one and a half actually) were even better.After the conclusion of season 5 in January there will be a television movie (on Sci Fi)."We're excited to tell Atlantis stories on a bigger canvas," series creators Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper said. "The successes of the two original Stargate DTV movies The Ark of Truth and Continuum have shown us the opportunities that the movie format offers. Davis has passed away, on June 29, 2008, of a heart attack.Don was to Stargate fans as Major General George Hammond, a role which he played since the Stargate SG-1 pilot Children of the Gods. He continued playing as a series regular untill season 7. Since then he made several guest appearances on SG-1 as well as Stargate Atlantis.
